Letter from SACHES President Prof. CC Wolhuter

Dear SACHES Member,

We are once again in the middle of another year.  Our 2015 conference went well, and we were honoured to have as one of our plenary speakers the present President of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies, Dr Carlos Torres.

I am getting ready for the World Conference in August at the University of Beijing, and I am looking forward to see many of you there too.  I shall use the opportunity to brief our colleagues worldwide as to what we do in SACHES and invite them to our next conference. On that topic, our members at the University of Zambia, under prof. Eunifridah Simuyaba and dr Dennis Banda, are busy planning the 2017 SACHES conference.  At this stage it looks like the conference will take place 24-26 May 2017, at the Victoria Falls, or an alternative nice venue in Zambia.  My two SACHES stalwarts, Jo-Anne Adams and prof Petro van Niekerk, and me shall keep you posted, also watch this space, the SACHES website.

I also wish to alert you to two other international, high quality, not expensive Comparative Education conferences in planning for 2015, in which I am involved:

You are also welcome to write to me should you require more information.

The book volume Education in East and Central Africa, which I edited and to which many SACHES members have contributed is doing well worldwide.  I am of the view that it is time that we begin a next research cum publication project in SACHES.  I wish to invite you to think with me and to write to me if you have any ideas in this regard.

Yours faithfully,
Prof. C.C. Wolhuter
