SACHES Annual Conference 2011

Date: Monday 8th to Thursday 11th August 2011
Theme: “Redrawing the boundaries of difference in the region: Regionalisation as a new space for educational change”
Venue: Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in the outskirts of Kampala City, Uganda
The Resort is located on the shores of Lake Victoria and spreads over 70 acres of lush green area. It offers a unique blend of both Ugandan and International hospitality. Its conveniently located 12km from Kampala city and 15 minutes drive from the other hotels located in the city center.

Thursday 30th June 2011

Conference delegates will have two days of excursions and entertainment visits in the area after the conference i.e. 12th and 13th of August, 2010. The excursion sites will include; Source of the Nile, Bujagali Falls, and Ndere Cultural Troupe.

The theme of the conference is “Redrawing the boundaries of difference in the region: Regionalisation as a new space for educational change” is a broad theme, to include the following sub-themes:

  1. ‘Boarderless’ education and the economic and social factors at play
  2. Political influence on education
  3. HIV/AIDS Issues in Education
  4. Climatic Change and Education
  5. The Internationalisation of education from various perspectives
  6. From donation to collaboration (South-South Collaboration, development partners in education)
  7. Alliance vs. competition in education
  8. Quality assurance in higher education

The format of the conference will include full length papers, workshops, panel discussions, symposia, round table discussions and poster presentations. Abstracts of papers (max. 350 words) can be submitted to the conference organizers, Dr. Mary, T. K. Ocheng, Dr. Betty Akullo Ezati, Dr. Proscovia Namubiru-Ssentamu and Jo-Anne Adams-Underhill.

Local and international scholars and agencies in the field of Comparative, International, Development Education, History and Sociology of Education are invited to attend and participate in this four-day workshop.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
